— behind serbia’s most magical house

A house under a
tree, and everything
that came after.

For years, Fairy Oak was just ours. A home, an escape, somewhere to disappear to. Little by little, season by season, we opened its doors, almost by accident…
and now they open for you.

Long before it was anything…

I’ve been running through this grass since I was a child. Barefoot, summers, the trees already taller than anyone. My father bought this land in 1976, and he wanted nothing more from it than days outside with his family. Guitar in the grass, barbecue under the trees. He built a small house, just enough to hide from the rain. For years it sat mostly untouched, and by the time we came back to it from abroad, it had gone fully wild, one corner of my father’s old roof visible through the overgrowth, and little else.

My husband and I started going out almost every day. First to cut a path, then, for years, just to keep going. There was never a plan. It was a place we couldn’t stay away from. Slowly, everything found its place. Furniture I’d spent years collecting across Italy, pieces other people had given up on, which is exactly what I liked about them, finally had somewhere to live. The garden grew, we built paths and stone platforms, the house stretched: a terrace became a room, the room became more.

Then in 2019 we hosted a family bachelorette here, decorated it ourselves, and the photos travelled further than we expected. The messages all asked the same thing: is this a venue? It wasn’t. We’d never set out to build one. Now it is.

What we want for everyone who comes hasn’t changed: that you feel you’re in a place made by people who care, not by a brand. That you slow down. That when you leave, you remember it.

— the team family

All of us, more or less.

Sandra

The soul

Sandra puts the “Fairy” in Fairy Oak. She’s never met a piece of furniture she couldn’t bring back to life, and the whole look of this place lives in her head before it’s anywhere else. When the others aren’t sure something will work, she’s already decided it will. She’s always the one who believes first. And don’t let the artist talk fool you, her hands are usually in the soil: planting, hauling wheelbarrows… Nothing here gets done without her starting it.

Duško

The backbone

Husband, father, and Sandra’s partner in everything. If Sandra dreams it, Duško builds it: paths, walls, the house itself, whatever the latest idea requires. He’ll push back, they’ll argue it out, and somehow it always lands in the right place. There’s probably nothing on this property he can’t make himself, though he’ll insist otherwise. Makes the best coffee ever. See the lawn? Freshly mown, somehow, on a hill that fights back every time. That’s him.

Ana

The mind

If there’s such a thing as an even split between two people, it’s Ana. She inherited her mother’s love of beautiful things and her father’s instinct to plan everything. Twice.
At Fairy Oak, that means she’s behind the marketing, the growth, and most of what you’ll see online.

Gioia

Professional Hedonist

The loveliest cat you’ll ever meet. And the reason why we’ve never had a mouse in the house. Spends her best hours on the armchair next to the fireplace and her second-best on slow walks around the property…

Haru

Our big, scary… baby

Looks imposing, behaves like a baby. Haru loves running circles around the garden, greeting guests on arrival, and being told he’s a good boy. He is. Want to win him over? Bring some Sunday lunch leftovers.
